A valid form identification issued by the government is required for almost any business transaction or registration you engage in. From Opening and operating a bank account, reporting a matter at the Police station or Registering Online for a Job or Foreign partnerships.
International Passports, Drivers License, Voters Card are most accepted but recently the National ID cards has also been added to the list of acceptable forms of Identification.
The National Identity management commission (NIMC) has been the government agency responsible for the enrollment, issuance and verification of National Identity Number (NIN), but due to bottlenecks in the registration process and issuance, Nigerians who have other forms of Government ID are not interested in getting NIN until compelled to do so.
Many job recruitment today requires applicants to provide their NIN as part of registration. You may need your NIN for some other purpose and in this post, we’ll show how to get it.
NOTE: The NIN is only available for those who have registered for NIN, completed Biometric fingerprint capture at a registration center and received your laminated paper slip.
