Obafemi Awolowo University is a tertiary institution in Nigeria. The institution was established between 1961 and 1962 as a result of a report submitted to the Federal Government in 1960. OAU is a public university. OAU started academic activities in 1962 as University of Ife. Then in 1987 it was renamed Obafemi Awolowo University.
