The Telecommunications industry in Nigeria has come a long way from where it used to be despite challenges and obstacles it faces everyday.
Nigerian Businesses have identified the potential and taken advantage of technological innovations made available but unfortunately some are still being ignored due to cost implications or ignorance.
The basic Online ticketing system for tracking and resolution of customer complaints have been adopted by most but an experience with Jumia Customer service identified a gap in the system than needs to be filled.
Toll-Free Numbers in Nigeria
Call charges to customer care lines can be outrageously high especially when you’re put on hold, call repeatedly for an unresolved issue and made to narrate the problem all over again each time you call.
In my case, i’ve spent over 5,000 Naira trying to get Jumia to refund a failed purchase worth 36,000.
It’s clear that i’m being made to literally pay for support service billed by phone charges.
Besides Mobile Service providers such as MTN, Airtel, Etisalat & Glo that own infrastructures to provide Toll-free numbers and do so, all other similarly large corporations in Nigeria do not provide toll-free numbers and i’d love to really know why.
