It was widely reported that across news media outlets that Federal Government has increased the tuition fee in federal universities. For the sake of people that don’t know, Tuition fee in the university is a fee that a student pays to learn.
Federal universities are universities that are managed and run by the federal government in the country. And in Nigeria, there are so many federal universities like Abubakar Tatawa Balewa University in Bauchi and others.

Is Tuition Free In Nigeria Federal Universities.
Just as I said at the beginning that it has been reported that Federal Government has increased tuition fee in federal universities in the country, theses reports are not correct and fake.
The government is aware that some universities have recently announced the increase in the amount payable by students on sundry charges. However, the federal government have confirmed that these are charges by each university for hostel accommodation, registration, laboratory and other charges. They are not tuition fees.
And authorities of the universities made this fact clear in explaining the rationale behind these fees. For avoidance of doubt, federal universities in Nigeria remain tuition free.
The President of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains committed to his promises of ensuring that evewry citizen, regardless of the economic situation of their parents, have access to quality education.
In addition to the students’ loan scheme, which will go into implementation ahead of the next academic session in September, the Federal Government will also strengthen other mechanism to support idigent students. Parts of government’s plan to make sure all diligent students complete their education on time, notwithstanding their parents’ financial situation, include work- study, merit based scholarships and grants.
