How to Install and Connect Bluetooth Devices on Laptop or PC

Majority of laptops and desktops nowadays come with Bluetooth support, but some of them still need Bluetooth upgrades. Before you proceed into installing a Bluetooth you have to check if your PC or laptop has in built Bluetooth. But if you have a newer system, practically it has Bluetooth already.

Some persons can go well without using Bluetooth on their system, but there are some things you can not access without Bluetooth, with the aid of Bluetooth it is more convenient.

HOW TO INSTALL BLUETOOTH

If you find out that your system don’t have in-built Bluetooth, then you will need to install it, this process will not cost much. Get the following materials:

  • A quality USB hub or USB expansion card.
  • You will need USB Bluetooth adapter.

STEPS TO INSTALL BLUETOOTH:

  • Install the Bluetooth dongle: if you are installing the dongle on Windows 8 or 10, the process is simple plug it in.
  • Windows involves the basic broadcom Bluetooth drivers required by the dongle and will install them automatically when it recognise the new devices, when installing it on an earlier version of windows you have to install your laptop model Bluetooth drivers which can be downloaded from their support site.
  • Download the version for the operating system (OS) and install
    Note: here is how to know if you are running 32-bits or 64-bits system type, run the installer
  • After dongle is inserted with approximate drivers, Bluetooth icon should appear in the system tray

HOW TO CONNECT BLUEBOOTH DEVICES(headset, speaker, keyboard and mouse)
Each windows version has its method of bluetooth device connection. The steps below will guide you for each version.

WINDOWS 7

  • After plugging and installing your bluetooth dongle, Turn on your bluetooth device and make it discoverable.
  • Select the Start button Start button icon and navigate to Devices and Printers.
  • Select Add a device (Here you will see a list of available devices) select the device you choose to add and click Next.
  • Follow any other instructions that might pop-up. Otherwise, you’re done and connected.

WINDOWS 8

  • Turn on your Bluetooth device and make it discoverable.
  • On the keyboard, tap the windows key to activate the start menu
  • Type Bluetooth and choose the select Bluetooth settings from the list.
  • Turn on Bluetooth > select the device > Pair.

WINDOWS 10

  • Turn on your device and make it discoverable
  • On Start menu, select Settings  > Devices  > Bluetooth & other devices .
  • Turn on Bluetooth, then select Add Bluetooth or other device > Bluetooth. Choose the device and follow additional instructions if they appear, then select Done.
