Easy Fix for HP Monitor OSD Lockout Problem

HP LED & LCD Monitors don’t develop problems as often as systems do. Systems issues related to hardware may require replacement of internal faulty components or software may require reinstallation / reloading of operating system.

HP monitor faults if not fixed by VGA or DVI/HDMI cable replacement could require total replacement of the Monitor because panel or screen changes are uncommon, expensive – not worth the trouble.

However, if you get the OSD Lockout error message displayed on your HP Monitor (Compaq LA1951 & other models), here’s how to fix it.
The HP Monitor OSD Lockout error message is an added security feature / child-lock mechanism built into monitor firmware to prevent tampering or accidental changes being made to display configuration.

To lock the OSD, one would have to Hold the MENU button for 10 to 20 seconds while the monitor is plugged in.
Therefore to resolve the OSD Lockout issue, press and hold the MENU button for 10 – 20 seconds.

If the above step does not solve the problem, Unplug the power cable and Hold the Power button for 30 seconds – this will reset to factory default.
Monitors are different and the buttons to HOLD might be different for other models, check manufacturer product manual for specific actions.
