Dell Vostro 1540 Laptop isn’t really a new product but if you’ve owned it for a while, common faults would be noticed and can be easily fixed by doing any of the following:
– Battery replacement
-Hard disk replacement
– Keyboard replacement etc
Today on Ngbuzz Forum, We’re doing a DIY (Do-it-Yourself) guide on how to replace your Dell Vostro 1540 faulty keyboard using Pictures and Video.
To get started, you need to first diagnose and identify the problem by confirming that all keyboard and system chipset drivers are installed correctly. A BIOS update is also recommended to rule out all possibilities of your keyboard misbehavior being a software issue.
If you’re absolutely positive that the keys pressing by itself or not working at all is hardware problem then go ahead to purchase one (N5000 – $25) then follow this guide to proceed with replacement.
CAUTION:
We’re not going to disassemble the Laptop but take all necessary precautionary measures to prevent electric shock, static electricity discharge on ESD pron circuits.
– Unplug Power Cord from wall outlet and Unplug Charger from Laptop.
– Remove Laptop Battery.
– Use earthed anti-static mat or wrist wrap if available.
Steps to replace Dell Vostro 1540 Keyboard
- Using a Flat Screw driver, Press four levers above Function keys to release the keyboard.
- Gently raise Black rubber holding keyboard connector to release keyboard.
- Replace new keyboard same position as the faulty one, confirming that the black rubber is closed back and levers clicked back into place.
- Boot your laptop and carry out a test using Notepad to confirm all keys are working properly.
