Coup in government is also known as a coup d’état and it is when power is being taken away from the government. It is when the government is being overthrown by group of individuals, especially military or people in politics. And during the coup, the plotters may employ various strategies to achieve their goal like military forces, popular support, protest, etc.
In coup, the existing government may respond with various actions such as suppressing dissent, imposing martial law, etc. The aftermath of the coup may be unpredictable, the new leadership may consolidate power or establish a new government. Civil violence may follow as various individuals may compete for power.

Military Coup In Gabon As Military Seize Power & Cancel Election Results.
The Gabonese military has announced a coup in Gabon deposing President Ali Bongo, citing that the elections held over the weekend were not credible. The officers appeared on Gabon24 in the early hours of Wednesday 30th August 2023.
They said they have cancelled the elections, dissolved all state institutions and closed the country’s borders.
A group of senior Gabonese military officers have appeared on nation television declaring that they have seize power, claiming the recent general election lacks credibility and saying they represent all Gabon’s security and defense forces.
The First African Country To Undergo Coup.
The first African country to undergo coup was Egypt in 1952. The free officers movement, led by Gamal Abdel Nasser, overthrew the king Farouk and established a republic.
The initial plan of the coup was to carry out a military coup to address the issue in the Egyptian society. And on July 23, 1952, the plan was carried out. They successfully seized the power against king Farouk.
