The latest version of Microsoft best selling series of Operating system – Windows 10 promises lots of improved features, functionality and making navigation more easier for users.
Mere promises or a new name shouldn’t be your driving force to decide on upgrading without making proper research and findings from professionals or people who have upgraded to this version of OS and are probably using the same PC or Laptop like yours to avoid learning from experience.
This is what happened, a sad outcome after upgrading from windows 8 to windows 10.
Before upgrading to the new operating system a client’s Acer Extensa E2510G was working fine, it could project to other screens by pressing the key combinations (Windows Key + P) on the previous Windows 8 64bit Operating system.
After the upgrade was done without formatting or losing files, the system drivers matching the product found on Acer support site was also installed.
I tried to connect it to another monitor but won’t display rather shows on my laptop screen error:
Your PC cannot project to another screen, try re-installing the driver). As usual, I thought there was going be a solution the problem online either directly from Microsoft or the manufacturer website.
On Microsoft support forum we found over twenty people with different system models discussing the same issue with no solution yet. While from Acer support website I tried downloading the video driver but when I want to install it shows not compatible with the system.
This is definitely not a solution to those having the same issue right now but an advice to others who are just in a haste to upgrade. Spend time to do little finding about compatibility issues before clicking that pop up upgrade button, especially if your laptop is used for projecting presentations.
Please note that projecting worked just fine on another HP Laptop upgraded to Windows 10, so this is not a general issue.
