- Phishing Scam: This is when the fraudster uses a fake email, etc. to trick the client into revealing his or credit card details, private information, etc.
Common Types Of “Yahoo” In Nigeria.
Before we go further, if you don’t know, “yahoo” is the common name for internet fraud in Nigeria.
The following are the types of “yahoo”mostly found in Nigeria.
- HK: HK is when a group of internet fraudster come together in one house to work. The host normally feeds them. And at the end the money gotten will be shared among themselves.
- Plus Up: Plus Up is not like the normal yahoo. It is when a person in desperate need of money does somethings that are not good like using human blood for rituals, eating the faeces of other humans, etc.

- They buy expensive clothes.
- They love using iPhone while some, laptops.
- Most of them drive Benz. Not just Benz, but silk, brand new Benz.
- And although some live low-key, you can identify them by their spending habits. Because they spend more than they earn.
How To Protect Yourself From Internet Scam.
The following are some ways you can protect yourself from internet fraud scam.
- Be Careful With Your Personal Information: You need to be careful with your personal information like your credit card details, etc. Not all websites are legit, not all that glitter is gold. So avoid sharing your sensitive information on suspicious websites.
- Use Strong Passwords: Always use strong password for each of your accounts, and avoid using passwords that can be easily guessed like phone number and birthdays.
- Shop From Trusted Websites: When shopping online, use trusted websites. Because not all websites are legit. And remember to see the payment amounts before putting your card details.
- Regularly Update Your Software: Update your software regularly for the latest antivirus and browser to ensure security of your information.
So the other day, someone on social media to me that I can invest 10,000 can get 100,000 in a particular platform. So I told him to lend me the 10,000 and when I get the 100,000, I’ll pay him back. Since then I haven’t heard from the fraudster.
